Korea has a whole retail category we don’t really have at home: shops that sell cute. Not toys, not homeware exactly, just soft pastel objects that are pleasant to hold.
The flip flops and slippers were the first trap. Sanrio characters on everything, sizes stacked to the ceiling, and prices low enough that walking out with none of them felt like a mistake.
The second shop was worse. Everything in it squeaked, squished or clicked, and we spent longer there than we did in some museums.
