Veľký Klíž, Slovakia: Sunflowers and gingerbread hearts at a village wedding
The only time we've been to Slovakia was August 2016, for Steve's wedding in Veľký Klíž, and it's still the best wedding either of us has ever been to.
We've been to Slovakia exactly once, in August 2016, and it was for one reason: Dileep's best friend Steve was getting married. Veľký Klíž is a small village, the sort of place where the party is at the village hall and the whole valley knows about it. It's still the best wedding either of us has ever been to, and we've thought about it every year since.
A glass of white outside the old cottage by the village hall, with a cart wheel leaning against the wall and ivy doing the rest. Our place settings: sunflowers, and a gingerbread heart each with our names piped on. We didn't eat them for a very long time.
Congratulations again to Steve and his wife. We would love to have another reason to visit this beautiful country again.
