Let’s Never Settle

Tokyo, Japan: The Monster Girls show in Harajuku

The Monster Girls show in Harajuku: a small basement venue, a lot of noise and colour, and one of the strangest hours we have spent in Tokyo.

Harajuku does not really do restrained, and the Monster Girls show is Harajuku at full volume.

The whole room is built out of melting desserts, and there's a show running through the middle of it. You sit down, order something, and every few minutes the performers reappear.

The counter at Monster Girls, where even the seating looks edible.
A performer in a neon green outfit dancing between giant melting dessert sculptures, with a second performer in a red wig on a lit-up stage behind
The show happens between the giant desserts. Nobody stays seated for long.
A performer with long blue braided hair, orange leg warmers and a pink and orange outfit posing beside a purple dessert sculpture
Every performer has a completely different look, and every one of them holds the pose until you've got the shot.
Dileep and Inga in straw hats making claw hands either side of a performer wearing a giant red bow and a striped skirt
The claw pose again, this time with the red bow. We're getting better at it.
