Most of our trips get planned out loud. This one didn’t. We booked the flights to Sri Lanka for Christmas and said nothing to the family, which meant lying pleasantly for weeks about what we were doing over the holidays.
The hard part of a surprise like this isn’t the travel, it’s the last hour. You’re standing outside a house you’ve been to a hundred times trying not to be spotted from a window.
It worked. The reaction is the whole video, and it’s the reason we’d do it again.
