Bangkok is a city we keep coming back to, and the version of it we like best is the one at street level, in the markets.
Three minutes through more than one Bangkok market: narrow walkways packed with stalls, steaming pots, trays of snacks, fresh fruit and raw ingredients laid out for the people who actually cook here. We didn't narrate a word of it. It's just street sounds, cooking and traffic, the way the markets sound if you stand still in them. Some of it you'll recognise. Some of it you very much won't.
Photos from Bangkok
A few frames from around the city, plus a couple from an earlier visit in 2019.
The films from Bangkok
Bangkok gave us far more footage than one page can hold, so each film now has a story of its own.
- Front row at Rajadamnern for a full Muay Thai fight night, seven professional bouts, a new bantamweight champion, and the photos from row one.
- Coffee with capybaras and meerkats in Sukhumvit, the animal cafe with no entry fee and a very relaxed cast.
- Inside the gilded rooms of Cafe Dior, the gold facade, the hand-woven rattan wall and the desserts under glass.
- A couples head spa neither of us stayed awake for, the scalp check, the warm towels and the napping at Sabuy Sleep Salon.
- Seventy minutes inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, filmed from in there, plus the chair version for anyone who finds closed spaces hard.
- The Miracle Lounge in Terminal 1 at Don Mueang airport, what the lounge pass actually buys you on the way out.
There’s more from this trip on our YouTube channel, we film the real sights and sounds, no fluff. You’ll also find us on TikTok and Instagram.
Bangkok has had two of our beds over the years: the Ramada Grand Swiss Sukhumvit 11 and the Ramada by Wyndham Bangkok Sukhumvit 87.
