A stop in Old Sacramento in June 2013: wooden boardwalks and Gold Rush facades, a candy kitchen mid-pour, and a cowboy hat we regret nothing about.

We gave Sacramento a morning on the June 2013 drive from the Sierra to the coast, and spent all of it in Old Sacramento, where the Gold Rush storefronts, wooden arcades and plank boardwalks still stand along the river.

By early afternoon we were back on the interstate with the sugar samples gone, because San Francisco was waiting across the bay.
