Kanchanaburi

A December 2019 road trip west of Bangkok into Kanchanaburi province's hill country: dusty pit stops, tinsel-trimmed stalls and blue-hazed ridges.

In December 2019 we pointed ourselves west out of Bangkok and kept going until the plains crumpled into the blue-hazed hills of Kanchanaburi province.

A pit stop somewhere in the hills. December means tinsel, even on a plywood stall in the middle of nowhere.

Proof we both survived the drive. The dust, for the record, got everywhere.

It is a long way from the skywalks and stadium lights of Bangkok, which is exactly the point of driving west.
